2014 West Texas Big Bobcat Calling Contest
January 11th / February 1st / March 1st
State Wide Contest
Heaviest Bobcat wins Grand Prize. Your team will need to kill either 5 Grey Fox or 5 Coyotes (NO MIXING OF THE
TWO) in order to enter your heaviest Bobcat in the contest. Failure to kill 5 Coyotes or 5 Grey Fox will disqualify
your team for the heaviest Bobcat prize, but your team can still win the Jackpots.
Sign-in is the Saturday of contest from 9:00 AM 12:00 PM at Field and Streams (Hunting begins at 12:00pm).
Weigh-in is the following Sunday at 11:00 AM sharp at Field and Streams
Failure to make weigh-in by 11:00 AM will result in disqualification.
Cost of Contest is $200 per team, CASH ONLY!!! Paying 1st and 2nd place only.
In the event of a tie, Grand prize and Jackpots will be split evenly.
Cost of each entry is divided as follows:
$140 will go toward Main Contest
$60 is divided 3 ways toward each of the following jackpots:
Most Bobcats / Most Grey Fox / Most Coyotes
(All teams will be entered in Jackpots)
General Rules:
1. Must follow all County, State, and Federal hunting laws! (This includes having proper hunting and/or
trapping license)
2. 4 members maximum per team!
3. All members must be present at weigh-in. If you have already registered, you DO NOT need to be at
sign-in on Saturday!
4. All members must hunt together at all times. No splitting up!
5. All animals must be killed within this 23 hour hunting contest!
6. No trapped, snared, caged-raised or frozen animals will be allowed!
7. No pooling of animals between teams!
8. No hunting in baited areas!
9. Trolling is legal! (driving around while playing caller)
10. No use of Air Craft or dogs *Teams may employ the use of a dog to help find a wounded critter, but
not to hunt
11. Decision of Judges is FINAL! (JUDGES WILL BE HUNTING IN CONTEST)
12. Winners will be given a polygraph!!!!!!
Mail-ins are welcome, but must be received no later than the Thursday prior to contest. Mail-in entries must include Money Order
or Cashiers Check. No personal checks, please!! Please provide a telephone number on the entry form to verify receipt!!!!!!

Texas Coyote Calling Championship 2014

 

The contest will be on January 24 , 25 , 26, 2014 in Archer City Texas .

Agenda - Sign up on Friday the 24th at the Archer City Shooting Sports Complex between 6pm and 8pm . Rules will be read after all entrys have been entered .

Hunt starts at daylight Saturday morning of the 25th and will end at checkin time of 3pm Sunday the 26th .

If you do not turn your card in by 3 pm . you will be disqualified .

This is a daylight only hunt . You must quit hunting Saturday night when you cannot see without the aid of a light .

This is a Coyote only hunt . This hunt has a 12 Coyote limit .

In case of a tie when you tag your last Coyote you must record the time you tagged it and whoever killed their last coyote 1st will be declared the winner .

All winners will be given a polygraph .

This hunt will payout 100% and will pay 3 places .

Entry fee for the hunt is 200$ per team .

This is a 2-man hunt . You may hunt with just 1 person but no more than 2 per team .

Team members must stay together during calling .

You May not shoot out of a moving vehicle .

You may not shoot from a public road .

You may not add weight to any animal .

No pooling of animals .

All animals must be called in .

ATVs are allowed .

First Annual Varmint Hunt

 

Hunt Dates:
Hunting will start at noon Saturday, January 25th and Check-in/Weigh-in will begin at Noon Sunday the 26th.

Sunday Weigh-in time: 12:00 pm. Teams must be checked in with official by noon for weigh in. No exceptions.

Sign Ups/Check-in/Weigh-In will be at the Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Posse Building at 1300 FM 1821 N in Mineral Wells, TX (North of Rodeo grounds). Only cash will be accepted Saturday the 25th.

***Sign Ups are not mandatory as long as mail-in entries are received by Saturday the 18th and rules are read to at least one team member.*** Money Orders, Cash, or Certified Checks will accepted before the 18th.

Tournament Rules

  1. You must have a valid Texas Hunting License and all TPWD laws must be followed.
  2. Hunting is allowed anywhere in the state of Texas that you have permission to hunt or on State Land where varmint hunting is legal and you have the necessary permit and license.
  3. All animals must be called. An animal must at a minimum, stop and look at the call before you shoot. If you are driving across the pasture and spot an animal you must come a complete stop, call, make the animal respond, and then you can shoot.
  4. There is a 6 animal per species maximum that will be counted towards points.
  5. Trolling is allowed. You may run the call while driving and shoot an animal as long as you adhere to rule 3.
  6. No hunting bait piles or dragging dead animals to hunt over. If an animal dies on its own then you may hunt by it. If the landowner drags dead livestock to an area (and he is not entered in the contest) you may hunt the area.
  7. Hunters can split into 2 groups as long as it’s on the same property and only one vehicle is used. A backup vehicle can be left at the gate.
  8. No pooling of animals or adding weight to an animal.
  9. No trapping animals or using dogs to catch, bay, or track animals.
  10. No hunting out of boats or aircraft.
  11. All animals must be killed during tournament hours.
  12. Only paid contestants are allowed in the vehicle. Kids are encouraged to participate and just sign them up as a member of your team.
  13. Kids under 18 must have written permission from their parents.
  14. Entry fees must be mailed and received by the Friday before the event or paid in cash at Official Check-In at the Expo Center (Livestock Show Barn).
  15. You do not have to Check-In in person but rules must be read aloud over the phone to at least one team member prior to the end of the day Saturday the 18th.
  16. Any team winning money is subject to the polygraph test. One member from each team selected for polygraph will be randomly chosen by drawing straws.

Henrietta Varnint Hunt

As we did last year we will have a 7:00 AM till 12:00 midnight hunt. We will start hunting on Saturday February the 8th at 7:00 AM and hunt until 12:00 midnight. You must be back to check in by 10:00 Am Sunday February the 9th at Airco Plumbing and Sheet Metal in Henrietta.

Sign up will be at Airco Plumbing and Sheet Metal on Friday February the 7th from 7:00 Pm until 9:00 Pm. Rules will be read aloud and questions answered at this time. You can mail your entry fee in if you cannot attend the sign up on Friday. Mail in Fees must be in by Thursday February the 6th at 5:00PM (Cashier’s checks or money orders only for the mail in fees). All mail in fees must include a list of team members and telephone numbers where I can call and read the rules to at least one of the team members.

Polygraph will be given to at least the top three winners.

Payout is 100%, less polygraph fee if no sponsor is found.

Your entry fee enters you in the big coyote and big bobcat pots.

Entry fee is $50.00 per person, with no more than 4 people on a team.

This is a 10 animal hunt with no more than 5 bobcats.

Heavy coyote will be the tie breaker.

Point system will be as follows:

35 points for coyotes

50 points for bobcats

250 points for mountain lion

This is a calling contest: all animals must be called and killed during the contest time frame. No trapped, baited, or road kill allowed.

All team members must hunt out of one vehicle, and you may split up however you like. (Out of one vehicle)

Henrietta Calling Contest

1. Only 10 animals will be counted for points with a 5 bobcat limit.

2. You may hunt anywhere in the state of Texas or Oklahoma on private land that you have permission to hunt, or state land where varmint hunting is legal.

3. This is a calling contest. All animals must be called. A called animal is: after you come to a complete stop and then start calling, if you see an animal and make a call loud enough that he can here it and it acknowledges the call then it is a called animal.

4. You may not bait or put out anything or have someone else put out anything for drawing in bobcats and coyotes. If an animal dies on its own and no one moves it you may call by it.

5. When hunting out of a vehicle you must come to a complete stop, make a call, and the animal must acknowledge the call before you can shoot any animal. No hunting out of boats or aircraft. Teams must use or hunt out of only one vehicle. Only hunting contestants are allowing in the vehicle while hunting. Four wheelers are allowed. You may leave a back-up vehicle at the gate.

6. No hunting on public roads. (Dirt or paved).

7. All animals must be shot from land you have permission to hunt on.

8. No pooling of animals, only animals shot by team members during tournament will count.

9. You may not add weight to your animals. You cannot shoot an animal in a live trap. You may not turn an animal out of a live trap and shoot it. You cannot pick up road kill.

10. Team members may split up however they like but must have only one base vehicle to hunt out of.

11. People under 18 must have parent’s written permission to hunt and to take the polygraph test.

12. All team members must be present at the weigh in, and all team members must be able to take the polygraph test. If a team member does not make the check in time then the team is disqualified. If a team member is drawn to take the polygraph test and refuses or says he is not medically able, then the team is disqualified.

13. You cannot fly to and from where you are going to hunt.

14. All state hunting laws must be observed.

4. All of the animals must be harvested between 12 noon Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday (animals will be checked for freshness), animals must be harvested by your entered team ONLY!!
5. No trapped or snared animals will be accepted or counted. No road kill! Anyone bringing in such animals will be disqualified. NO hunting baited areas (LIVE or DEAD) and NO hunting with dogs.
6. You must call the animal in with a mouth call, lip squeaking or electronics, including raccoons.
7. Every team member must be at weigh in to be eligible for the contest and raffle. Must be 18 years of age or older to be eligible to win gun raffle.
8. You may hunt anywhere in the state of Texas, on private land where you have permission, and on state land where varmint hunting is legal. You may have land owner with you while on his land, but landowner may not shoot.
9. Giving, exchanging, or accepting any animal from ANYBODY during the hunt will result in immediate disqualification and the team will be banned from the hunt.
10. Teams are responsible for their own hunting land during the hunt, and th eproper disposal of their animals after the hunt.
11. The entire team does not have to hunt the whole time (i.e. some can go to sleep), but all hunters MUST be in the same property and must travel together to hunting destinations.
12. Must follow Texas Parks and Wildlife rules and guidelines. Any game violations will result in immediate disqualification.
13. TOP TEAMS WILL BE POLYGRAPHED!!!
14. Team captain in responsible for time and animals.
15. Judges reserve the right to refuse the acceptance of entries/contestants.

First Annual “Bubba” Kennedy Memorial Predator Calling Contest

Upton County Sherriff’s Deputy Billy “Bubba” Kennedy was killed in the line of duty on October 2, 2013. The McCamey Fire Department is hosting a Memorial Predator Calling Contest in his honor. Besides being a law enforcement officer, hunting was one of Bubba’s passions. Part of the proceeds from this contest will go to a Scholarship fund set up in his honor to help those interested in becoming a first responder with the cost of attending an academy or other training. These scholarships will be open to those interested in becoming a first responder (Law Enforcement, EMS and Fire Department) only.

 

Hunt Dates:
Sign-up/Check-in will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 8, 2014.

Hunting will start at 3:00PM Saturday, February 8, 2014 and weigh-in will begin at 9:00AM Sunday February 9, 2014.

Sunday Weigh-in time: 9:00AM. Teams must be checked in with official by 9:00AM for weigh in. No exceptions.

Sign Ups/Check-in/Weigh-In will be at McCamey Fire Station at 101 W. 4th St in McCamey, TX.

  5. Trolling is allowed. You may run the call while driving and shoot an animal as long as you abide by rule 3.
  6. All members must hunt together at all times. No splitting up!
  7. No pooling of animals between teams or adding weight to an animal.
  8. No trapping animals or using dogs to catch, bay, or track animals.
  9. No road-killed or frozen animals allowed.
  10. No hunting out of boats or aircraft.
  11. All animals must be killed during tournament hours: 3:00PM Saturday February 8, 2014 to 9:00AM Sunday February 9, 2014
  12. Only paid contestants are allowed in the vehicle. Kids are encouraged to participate and just sign them up as a member of your team.
  13. Kids under 18 must have written permission from their parents or accompanied by a parent.
  14. Entry fees must be mailed and received by the Friday January 31, 2014 or paid in cash at Official Sign-up/Check-In at the McCamey Fire Station on Saturday February 8, 2014.
  15. Any Substitutions of Hunters from mailed entries can only occur at Official Sign-up/Check-in on Saturday February 8, 2014.
  16. All members must be present at weigh-in. If you have already registered, you DO NOT need to be at
    sign-in on Saturday

Check in 9:00am- 12:00pm saturday at DF&G

 

Can register and pay online at www.dfgwildlifesupply.com and skip the check in

 

Teams must be paid in full for entry and side pots before 12:00pm saturday

 

Hunting begins at 12:00pm Saturday Feb 22

 

Weigh in will take place at 2:00 pm sharp on Sunday Feb 23
