Ellis County Varmint Competition

Date: Jan 11-12 Registration Friday 6pm-7pm

Hunt starts at 8pm

Weigh in Saturday night at 8pm

 

Location:Boyce Feed and Grain 441 S College St, Waxahachie, TX 75165

 

General Info: Cash only for entry fee ($50 per team). Heavy pots available for $10 each. Ten animal cap on all species. This contest will last for a total of 27 hours. 1-5 man teams no more. I am going to try and get some door prizes to draw for and will update as I get them.

 

10 animal cap on each species

Bobcat=35pts

Coyote=25pts

Fox=15pts

Coon=5pts

Heavy pots for Bobcat, Coyote, and Coon for $10 each

Rules: No pooling of animals. No baiting an area to hunt. (If the animal has died you may hunt by the animal but can not either kill an animal and place it somewhere or move and animal after natural death.) Team members must hunt on the same piece of property but may split up and hunt as long as they remain on the same piece of property. You must only hunt on land you have permission to hunt or state required land. No shooting off of public roads. If you drive up on an animal or walk up on an animal you must come to a complete stop, squeak, call, or make some kind of noise to make that animal commit vefore pulling the trigger. By commit I mean he must stop and look at you. You may shoot raccoons out of trees as long as they are looking at you. All team members may not start hunting until the tournament begins. Only animals that have been shot during the contest hours will count for the contest. No adding weight to your animal. Must follow state rules. No trapping of animals allowed.

 

Payout:1st 75%

2nd 25%

Heavy Pot: 100% for each

Registration will be from 6pm-7-pm Friday evening and your team may start hunting at 0800. No mail in.

Hill Country Sporting Goods in Llano TX will be hosting its 4th annual calling contest on January 12-13th

 

Llano and surrounding counties

Registration Fee: $100.00 up to 3 man team. Entry Fee due upon registration.

Date: January 12th, 12:00 pm to January 13th, 12:00 pm

Time and Place: Registration will be Saturday, 11:30 am at Hill Country Sporting Goods, Llano, TX. All TEAM MEMBERS must return by Sunday 12:00 pm for weigh-in.

 

Eligible Varmints

Mountain Lion – 10 points

Coyotes – 5 points

Bobcats – 4 points

Red Fox – 3 points

Gray Fox – 2 points

 

A $10.00 jackpot will be offered for heaviest animal in each category, to be paid at registration.

A $10.00 jackpot will be offered for most raccoons.

 

Prizes

Payout will be 90%. 70% to 1st place team and 20% to 2nd place team. Tie breaker will be based on total weight.

Additional prizes will be awarded.

 

Rules:

No more than 3 people per team.

All team members must present for registration and weigh in. If team members are not present or on time the team will be disqualified.

All animals must be harvested between 12 noon Saturday and 12 noon on Sunday.

All animals will be checked for freshness. No trapping, snares or baiting allowed.

Must call all animals with mouth call or electronic caller.

Cannot exchange or accept animals from anyone else.

Hunting can only take place in Llano or surrounding counties. (Blanco, Burnet, Gillespie, Mason, San Saba)

Teams must hunt together at all times and out of the same vehicle.

All team members must have a valid hunting license and one member must have a fur bearing trappers license Landowner or agent can go with the team but cannot hunt or call, unless they are a member of the team.

Hunters may be subject to a polygraph test.

Contests will be held regardless of weather. If no one shows up then the contest will be cancelled.

 

Point System:

Red Fox - 5

Bobcat - 4

Coyote - 3

Gray Fox - 2

Raccoon - 1

 

Animal Limits:

Total of 7 animal limit for each species except raccoons (limit 5). After your limit is reached, each additional animal is counted as 1 point. There are no additional points awarded for raccoons after limit of 5 is reached.

 

Payout:

5 Teams or Less - Pays 1st Place Only - 100%

6 -10 Teams - Pays 1st & 2nd Place - 60/40

11 + Teams - Pays 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place - 50/30/20

 

If there is a tie in points, the team with the most varmints wins. If these teams have the same amount of varmints, then the tiebreaker will be the heaviest animal.

No night vision

Animals may be checked for trap marks and freshness

No hunting over intentionally baited areas

Anyone caught cheating will cause their team to forfeit and lose all entry fee & jackpot fees

All hunters must be present at check in or team forfeits - NO EXCEPTIONS!!

Each team is responsible for disposal of their animals

Ties are broke by heaviest animal or most animals

A limit of 5 raccoons for any and all jackpots

Polygraph will be enforced at all contests.

 

POLYGRAPH GUIDELINES: 1st place team will take the polygraph. This may include the entire team or 1 person drawn from that team. All other people in the money pool (jackpots included) will be placed in a pool and drawn at random for the 2nd test. There may be additional tests if needed.

Terry County 4-H Varmint Hunt

 

Hunt starts February 9 at 12:00pm. Final check-in will be 12:00 pm February 10, 2013. Rule reading and sign-in will be 10:00am February 9. Rule reading, sign-in and final check-in all take place at Terry County Extension Office 209 S. 5th Brownfield Tx. This contest will be a 24 hr varmint hunt contest. All proceeds will go to Terry County 4H. Hunt anywhere you like as long as you are at the final check-in on Sunday. HUNTERS MAY BE SUBJECT TO A POLYGRAPH TEST.

 

1. All payouts will be 50% for 1st place and 25% for 2nd place.

2. Entry fee is $200 for up to a 4 man team.

3. 25 entries or less 1-2 places. 26+ 1-3 places.

4. Team members must stay together during hunt.

5. You may not shoot out of the cab of a truck.

6. You may not shoot from or across a public road.

7. At least 1 member must be at the sign up. Full team must be at the final check-in.

8. No pooling of animals.

9. 4 wheelers and UTV's are allowed.

10. Eligible Varmints

Mountain Lion - 10 points

Coyotes - 5 points

Bobcats - 4 points

Red Fox - 3 points

Gray Fox - 2 points with a 5 fox limit

11. All late arrivals to final check-in will be disqualified. If your full team in not at final check-in your team will be disqualified.

12. All animals must be harvested between 12:00pm on February 9 and 12:00pm February 10.

13. No trapping, snares, or baiting allowed.

14. You must call all animals with a mouth call or electronic call.

15. You cannot exchange animals with anyone else.

16. Teams must hunt together at all times.

19. In case of a tie when you tag your last animal and record the time you tagged it and whoever killed their last animal will be declared the winner.

Stephenville Contest Dec. 29th 2012

Location: 200 CR 421 Stephenville, TX. The shop we will be using as our club house doesn’t have a physical address, so for directional purposes we will use the address of the Huckabay School. The club house is located less than a 1/2 mile from the school and sits directly on HWY 108 so it will be easy to find. Please call for specific directions.

 

This will be a 16 hour hunt starting at 2pm Saturday and ending at 6am on Sunday

Registration will begin at noon on Saturday

 

Team Description: MAX 4 MAN TEAMS

 

$100.00 ENTRY FEE PER TEAM

 

$ 5.00 FOR EACH SIDE POT (payout in the side pot will be winner take all)

 

Payout: If there are at least 5 teams payout is as follows:

1st-50%

2nd-30%

3rd-20%

if less than 5 teams it will be a “winner take all” system.

 

 

There will be a point system:

Mountain Lion= 200 points

Bobcat = 45 points

Coyote= 35 points

Fox = 25 points

Raccoon = 5 points

 

5 animal cap

 

Side Pots are:

Heaviest Bobcat, Heaviest Fox, Heaviest Coyote, Heaviest Coon

 

RULES:

1. Must enter main entry to enter side pots.

8. NO hunting baited areas.

 

9. Every team and team members must be present at the club house at 2:00pm sharp on Saturday to be eligible for the contest (there will be a few minuites after 2:00 set aside for briefing before teams will be cast).

 

10. You may have land owner with you if need be, but land owner may NOT shoot.

 

11. Giving, exchanging, or accepting any animal from anybody during the hunt will result in immediate disqualification and will be banned from the hunt.

 

12. Participants may hunt anywhere in Texas.

 

13. Teams are responsible for their own hunting land during the hunt.

 

14. The entire team does not have to hunt the whole time (i.e. some can go to sleep). But all remaining hunters must be on the same property and must travel together to hunting destinations.

 

15. Each team is responsible for the proper disposal of animals.

 

16. Must follow Texas Parks and Wildlife Rules and Guidelines!

 

17. Any game violations will result in immediate disqualifications!

 

18. Rules are subject to change without further notification.

 

19. Team Captain is responsible for time and animals.

 

20. All money winners are subject to a polygraph (lie detector) test.

 

21. JUDGES RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE THE ACCEPTANCE OF ENTRIES OR CONTESTANTS

Tournament Rules

 

1. This year no more than 9 animals will be counted for points. We will have a 5 bobcat cap and a 6 coyote cap. The best score will be 5 bobcats and 4 coyotes.

2. This year you may hunt any where in the state of Texas or Oklahoma; on private land you have permission to hunt on or state land where varmint hunting is legal.

3. This is a calling contest. This year all animals must be called. A called animal is: after you have come to a complete stop and then start calling, an animal comes up that you haven’t seen. Also if you spot an animal you must come to complete stop and wait 20 seconds then start calling and then you may shoot the animal. This year you will be allowed only 3 animals that you see and wait 20 seconds then shoot. The rest must be 100 percent called in. You may not drive, shine the light and be calling at the same time just to locate animals.

4. You may not bait or put out anything or have someone else put out anything for drawing in bobcats or coyotes. If an animal dies on its own and no one moves it you may call or hunt by it. If the landowner moves his dead livestock to an area for his convenience you can hunt by it.

5. When hunting out of a vehicle you must come to a complete stop before you can shoot any animal. No hunting out of boats or planes. Teams must use or hunt out of only one vehicle. Only hunting contestants are allowed in the vehicle while hunting. No four wheelers allowed. Your vehicle must have current tags and an inspection sticker. You may leave a back-up vehicle at gate.

6. No hunting on public roads. (Dirt or paved)

7. All animals must be shot from land you have permission to hunt on.

8. No pooling of animals. Only animals killed by team members during tournament hours will count.

9. You may not add weight to your animals. You can not shoot an animal in a live trap.

10. Team members must hunt on same land but may split up on that same land while hunting. This year you can stop once and let a person or people out to hunt and drive on and then return to pick them up then go to the next spot.

11. People under 18 must have parent’s written permission to hunt and take the polygraph test.

12. There will be 3 polygraph tests given. Anyone winning money may be required to take a test. If you fail the polygraph test no money will be awarded to your team. All team members must be present at the weigh-in.

13. At least one team member must be at sign ups to pay entry fees, listen to rules read. Other members of the team cannot start hunting until this hunter joins the team. No one leaves sign ups until all rules have been read and final word is given. You cannot fly out to where you hunt.

14. No checks will be accepted. Must pay cash at sign ups. 100% pay back of entry fees. Will pay out at least four places. Usually 6 to 10 places.

15. High School teams my have an adult to watch and drive only.

16. To be able to do mail-ins on 2nd and 3rd hunts you must have hunted or someone on your team hunted the 1st hunt. More details and mail-in forms at the first hunt.

Points are as follows:

Bobcats: 40 pts.

Coyotes: 35 pts.

Mt. Lions: 200 pts.

 

To get to sign up location: go east of Graham on Hwy 380 about 3 ½ miles and look for Clear Fork Country on north side of hwy. There is a great big deer head lying in front of the building. (www.clearforkcountry.com)

6th Annual WEST TEXAS VARMINT HUNT

 

Date: February 09, 2013

Meeting Place: Master Truck and Trailer 3000 Garden City Hwy, Midland, Tx.

Check-in time: 10:00 am. February 09th

Return time: 11:00 am. February 10th

 

1. Limit to 4 people per team. ($160.00 per team)

2. Each team member must be present @ both check-in times.

3. All animals must be harvested between 10:00 am Sat. and 11:00 am Sun. (animals will be checked for freshness)

4. No trapped or snared animals will be allowed. Anyone bringing in such animals will be disqualified.

5. No hunting baited areas.
