I know just a little about telling the difference in bobcat and coyote scat. Bobcat scat is segmented, taperd at the ends, and has more hair in it usally than coyote scat. Is there any other way of telling the difference in the two. I know that bobcat scat is usally found near a scrape, where coyote's is more in the open on roads and dirt areas. I am finding that scat is the most reliable way of telling if their is much predator action in the area. Also what about fox scat? Thanks!

Coyote: Long, tapped sharply at both ends, generally full of hair. Grayish to black.

Bobcat: looks almost exactly like a tootsie roll (only more tastie) has those distinct 'divisions or segments' along the length.

The only difference I have found is in the taste.
We Americans got so tired of being thought of as dumb by the rest of the world that we went to the polls and removed all doubt!!

If tasting is the last resort to find out which animal's scat it is, I'll just go on in the dark. I will just let it be a surprise. ^_^
