nice surprise for the opener ruddy ducks!

Well, the new duck season opened Saturday and if the rest of the season is anything like this weekend it should be a good one. I had some regular clients come in from Dallas and hunt through monday. The highight of the trip was that they shot 5 ruddy ducks! I have never shot 1 of them here and in three days we shot 5! I couldn't believe it. I see them while hunting open water sometimes on the big bay but never had them decoy. I think its a sign for the rest of the season. Besides that we shot 7 other species, Ringnecks, redheads, gadwall, blue wing teal, green wing teal, shevelers, and pintails! What a great start. Heres a pic of my client with a nice pair of ruddys

And yes, thats a coot in the bottom picture. We shot it because a friend of mine swears they taiste good and I promised if given the chance I would shoot one and try it. We'll see........
